Short History
“Doina Baraganului” Folk Ensemble has been founded 30 years ago, when a group of artists who highly appreciated folk songs and dances started performing and presenting the audience the beauty of the Romanian folklore.
Following the tradition of valuable folk groups, “Doina Baraganului” Ensemble has been from the beginning until the present day an authentic messenger of the folklore typical of Ialomita County and of other regions in our country.
Taking into consideration that we should be constantly aware of the cultural tradition and the history of the Romanian people, “Doina Baraganului” Folk Ensemble has chosen from the start a difficult, but at the same time, an enthusiastic path, rendering value to the wonderful folk legacy of the region of Baragan and presenting it on stage.
In its 30 years of existence, many famous Romanian folk artists have been part of “Doina Baraganului” Ensemble: folk singers (Ion Dolanescu, Tiberiu Ceia, Marin Cornea, Tita Stefan, Tita Barbulescu), conductors (Ion Albesteanu, Radu Voinescu, Marin Ghiocel), choreographers (Dutu Olteanu, Ion Grama, Ion Auroaica, Mihai Runcan), who have contributed to the promotion of the ensemble in our country and abroad.
The artistic activity performed along the years has been materialised in an impressive number of participations to local, national and international folk events, where the ensemble has had many performances which have been extremely appreciated by the audience and received endless rounds of applauses.
The concert programmes created by “Doina Baraganului” Ensemble has always been appreciated by the public and the media for their high artistic content and value.
The elegance and beauty of the folk costumes, taken from the bottom drawers, where they have been well taken care of, are valued on stage where the artists wear them with enthusiasm. The success of the ensemble wouldn’t have been possible if it hadn’t been for the appreciation of the audience, the real judge of the artistic performance, who is offered education and entertainment – ethical and aesthetical satisfactions.
Being consistent in its passion for promoting the authenticity of the Romanian folk art, trusting the everlasting ethical values, “Doina Baraganului” Folk Ensemble wishes to transmit on stage to people from all over the world the pacifist and artistic message of the Romanian people.
